Yorkshire and Humber trusts sign deal with TytoCare

Telehealth company TytoCare has expanded its presence in the NHS after signing a deal with 14 trusts within Yorkshire and Humber.
The deal follows TytoCare’s successful pilot with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which was the first trust in the UK to partner with TytoCare in 2019. The pilot involved TytoCare’s hand-held, all-in-one device for remote examinations being used for chronic paediatric respiratory patients, paediatric patients with ENT conditions and paediatric palliative care.
The expansion will see the company’s telehealth solution being used as part of the region’s Virtual Wards Project which involves 26 projects.
TytoCare’s platform enables the sharing of exam data, live video exams and scheduling of visits. TytoCare’s solutions also feature a cloud-based data repository with analytics and built-in guidance technology and machine learning algorithms to improve accuracy, ease of use for patients and the resulting insights for healthcare providers.
The devices can be used to examine the heart, lungs, skin, ears, throat, abdomen and body temperature. This can be deployed during video visits by professionals at the healthcare setting – which now includes Leeds Children’s Hospital, Sheffield Children’s and nearly 70 care homes.
At Leeds Children’s Hospital the device is being used to take high quality images and videos of babies’ mouths by the cleft lip and palate team. The images can be viewed by a surgeon for diagnosis, the planning of surgical options and post-op care all without the need for outpatient appointments.
Doctors at Sheffield Children’s are using the same tool to carry out physical checks during community visits for the NHS FT Home Ventilation Virtual Clinic. It intends to expand its use to the NHS FT Paediatric Palliative Care Team so children and their families can benefit from improved virtual support at home.
“We are honoured that the NHS has chosen to implement our telehealth solution across NHS trusts,” said Dedi Gilad, CEO and co-founder of TytoCare.
“TytoCare’s solutions deliver convenient and accessible healthcare without compromising quality, all from the comfort of home. We look forward to continuing our work with the NHS to expand its incredible telehealth programs across the UK.”
Kate Lodge, head of strategic partnerships at Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network, added: “New digital tools like TytoCare help to design services around individual patient and family needs as well as reduce the need for hospital visits and admissions.
“We look forward to continuing our journey of digital innovation with TytoCare, providing opportunities for many individuals, from babies to the elderly with comprehensive virtual care, as well as giving clinicians the tools needed to safely care for, diagnose, and treat more patients remotely.”
