Digital Health’s monthly roundup of contracts and go lives

Our latest roundup of contracts and go lives features a new electronic patient record (EPR) powered by Epic going live across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), and North West London Integrated Care System (ICS) partnering with InterSystems.

Northern Ireland Department of Health selects Lyniate for Encompass

The Northern Ireland Department of Health has selected Lyniate’s Rhapsody to provide data integration technologies for its national digital transformation initiative.

As part of the Encompass programme’s aim to create a single digital record for every citizen, Lyniate will integrate multiple health and social care systems containing the electronic records of patients and service users across the country.

Not only will this help Northern Ireland on its ambition to be the first UK country with a single, connected EPR, but it will also help improve patient outcomes through better support for health and care professionals.

Rhapsody is already used in 79 NHS trusts and provides seamless integration with disparate systems, such as the EPR, lab information system and diagnostic imaging. By bringing this all together it makes life easier for clinical staff to see all vital information on patients across all elements of their care.

New Hive EPR powered by Epic goes live across Manchester Uni NHS FT

A new EPR called Hive, powered by software company Epic, has gone live across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Hive will provide a single, trust-wide hospital record for every patient, streamlining hundreds of varied existing systems across hospitals, departments and services.

Having all patient information held in one place will mean that patients do not need to repeat their details across different departments and services, creating a smoother experience for everyone.

Patients will also have more control over their own care through a dedicated online patient portal and phone app called MyMFT. This will provide access to information about their healthcare across MFT sites and services including information on appointments, test results and more.

NHS Scotland set for transformation with new collaboration

NHS Scotland is set to transform the health of the local population with new digital technologies and patient pathways thanks to the launch of a collaboration between NHS, university and industry partners.

NHS Golden Jubilee’s national Centre for Sustainable Delivery, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, University of Glasgow, AstraZeneca UK and Lenus Health have all signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which aims to improve the health of the Scottish population and expand opportunities for clinical research.

The new partnership aims to deliver NHS transformation by trialling new patient pathways and digital technologies to support earlier diagnosis and treatment, enable large-scale clinical trials and studies in Scotland, gather evidence to assess the effectiveness of the new clinical management pathways established, and scale up the successful pathways across NHS Scotland.

North West London ICS partners with InterSystems

North West London ICS has announced a five-year partnership with creative data technologies provider InterSystems, to deliver a cloud-based interoperability service supporting electronic data flows between computer systems and promoting digital transformation in the region.

The service will use HealthShare Health Connect Cloud and will help to integrate care across the area and deliver on the NHS Long Term Plan. The move will see a wider integration between social care, mental health trusts, community trusts, local authorities and third sector organisations.

By enabling the flow of information across organisations, the ICS hopes to improve its understanding of the needs of the 2.1million citizens it serves and how it can improve the services it offers.

North West London ICS will use a cloud environment provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Using the AWS ISV Workload Migration Program (WMP), InterSystems and AWS will help customers to migrate their on-prem workloads to HealthShare Connect Cloud on AWS.
