Dunscombe and Martins announced as Rewired 2025 keynotes

Professor Rachel Dunscombe, chief executive at OpenEHR International, and Professor Henrique Martins, associate professor in health management and leadership, have been announced as keynote speakers at Digital Health Rewired 2025.

Prof Dunscombe spent five years as chief exceutive of the NHS Digital Academy, having previously served as chief information officer (CIO) for Salford Royal and Northern Care Alliance, which became the NHS’ most digitally mature organisations under her leadership.

She has been a member of the UK government’s AI Council, advised the secretary of state for health and social care, and is now chief executive at OpenEHR International.

At Rewired, which will take place on 18-19 March 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham, Prof Dunscombe will share what lessons the UK can learn from her work with the international community in developing open standards and electronic health record platforms and how these key initiatives support better interoperability, data sharing and patient care.

A keynote speech will also be delivered by Prof Martins, associate professor in health management and leadership at the University of Beira Interior Portugal and the University Institute of Lisbon.

Prof Martins, one of the first ever chief medical information officers (CMIO) in Portugal, headed up Portugal’s digital health agency, setting the agenda for eHealth and leading numerous nationwide projects.

He has co-chaired the European Union’s eHealth Network, and currently sits on the HL7 Europe Foundation Board of Directors.

Prof Martins is also a senior consultant for the World Health Organisation (WHO) and has authored papers on new digital health trends at global, European, national and hospital levels.

Prof Dunscombe and Prof Martins join already confirmed keynotes Dr Jessica Morley and Mike Bracken, who are back by popular demand after successful appearances at Rewired 2024.
