Digital Health’s monthly roundup of contracts and go lives
- 15 November 2024
Our latest round-up of contracts and go-lives includes Cheshire and Merseyside’s £11.5 million laboratory information management system (LIMS) contract and Princess Alexandra Hospital‘s Oracle Health electronic health (EHR) record go-live.
Cheshire and Merseyside selects Magentus for £11.5m LIMS solution
Cheshire and Merseyside Pathology Network has selected Magentus as the preferred supplier for a new £11.5m LIMS.
Hosted by Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the Magnetus LIMS will link pathology services across five regional labs to deliver faster test results and improved patient access to services.
The new system will support approximately 2,000 staff in conducting up to 53 million tests annually, streamlining lab operations across the region.
BadgerNet maternity EHR deployed across Humber and North Yorkshire ICB
System C’s BadgerNet maternity electronic health record (EHR) is now live across NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Following the final go-live at Goole NHS Foundation Trust in September 2024, parents-to-be across Humber and North Yorkshire can access maternity records via the Badger Notes portal, replacing paper-based processes.
The Badger Notes app provides real-time updates after each visit or appointment, offering people greater control and transparency over their care. The system also removes the need for data duplication across paper and electronic systems, saving time for staff.
Princess Alexandra Hospital rolls out Oracle Health EHR
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has implemented Oracle Health‘s EHR, which it is calling Alex Health.
Alex Health went live at the trust in early November 2024. The EHR integrates patient data across health systems and allows clinicians to order tests, review results and access appointment details electronically.
Patients can access Alex Health via a web-based patient portal where they can manage their appointments, complete assessments and questionnaires, access letters digitally and receive appointment reminders on their phone.
Hampshire Hospitals deploys Miya Emergency across A&E units
Emergency departments in three hospitals within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have gone live with Alcidion’s Miya Emergency clinical system.
The system, launched simultaneously across Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital during the summer, digitises paper-based processes and automates data collection to provide trust-wide visibility of patient status and A&E activity.
Tamara Everington, former chief clinical information officer for Hampshire Hospitals, said the system would support better outcomes and efficiency by enabling cross-trust visibility and supporting the trust’s paper-free ambitions.
System C acquires CIS Oncology
System C has acquired CIS Oncology, known for its chemotherapy management system ChemoCare.
CIS Oncology offers tools for managing patient data that support personalised care and help cancer teams make more informed treatment decisions. The platform will be integrated into System C’s medicines management suite, allowing clinicians to manage chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy prescriptions in a single interface.
CIS Oncology’s app ChemoPRO, planned for launch early 2025, will enable patients to access their medical information and communicate with healthcare professionals digitally.
