RLDatix: How University Hospitals of North Midlands achieved 99% job planning compliance

Sponsored

University Hospitals of North Midlands had struggled with effective job planning for its medical workforce, often finding its agreements were misaligned with the needs of the service. After an audit highlighted the need for reform, trust leaders implemented an improved technology-enabled job planning capability.

The new, data-driven approach made use of RLDatix’s JobPlan to overhaul job planning annually and enable real-time updates.

As part of the overhaul, the trust created divisional consistency panels and a medical workforce committee. The committee receives regular performance reports, which hold clinical leaders accountable for each plan’s completion.

Thanks to a focus on technology and clear objectives, job plan compliance increased to 99% from 41% within a 13-month period. Clinicians and managers have praised the system for providing greater transparency and alignment in job planning. Medical staff now have a much clearer view of their roles and can see how their pay relates to the responsibilities in their job plan.

Improved accuracy in job planning also ensures that resource allocation is more closely matched to actual service needs, leading to better financial management and reduced discrepancies between planned and actual activities.
