Sysmed to buy oncology systems specialist Clinisis

According to a statement by Sysmed the acquisition of Clinisis will enable it to offer an improved range of clinical systems capable of supporting cancer networks, multi disciplinary teams and enabling outcome and evidence based data analysis.

The purchase of Clinisys represents a strategic extension of Sysmed’s business, which is currently focused on supplying IT solutions in pathology, sexual health and diabetes, into providing oncology information management systems.

Clinisys’ key systems are solutions for chemotherapy and radiology that can be accessed across a cancer network.  Its chemotherapy module is said to support adult, paediatric and haematology prescribing. 

The Clinisys radiotherapy solution, meanwhile, includes advanced scheduling facilities to coordinate complex inter-departmental treatment plans, enabling clinical managers to maximise the utilisation of high value resources. 

According to Sysmed there is a clear requirement in the market for extended IT solutions for cancer diagnosis, treatment and management.  Such systems are essential to support regional and national information processing requirements, and help realise the objectives of the Cancer National Service Framework (NSF).

Sysmed says that all its IT solutions fully support integration into the developing NHS Care Records Service and the delivery of the Government’s National Strategic Programme – Delivering 21st Century IT Support for the NHS.
