Ideal acquires Deverill’s NHS IT training

  • 27 November 2006

Ideal Training has acquired the NHS training division of Deverill, which holds a major contract in the London region.

Deverill was awarded a five year contract in January to provide experienced care records systems trainers to support the delivery of end user application training for the capital’s 31 primary care trusts, 32 acute trusts and 10 mental health trusts.

An Ideal Training spokesperson told E-Health Insider: “We understand the challenges of implementing complex new systems – working with multiple suppliers and shifting deadlines. It’s difficult enough to get the systems to work properly without worrying about how to get a large and diverse user population 100% ready in time for go live.”

The acquisition means that London trusts will be offered a larger variety of training for all new systems implemented from this month onwards. They will also be able to benefit from a large portfolio of training services and courses for current systems.

The spokesperson added: “The merger will hopefully allow Ideal to work with London trusts at the planning stage and share with them the lessons learnt at other care records and PACS training roll outs throughout the country.”

Chris Brimble, Ideal Training managing director, said: “Since the introduction of NPfIT [National Programme for IT] both companies have done an excellent job in preparing health staff to be able to maximise the benefits of a trust’s investment in new technology. Together we will be a stronger company offering better features and service and a broader range of training services.”

Staff from Deverill will join the Ideal team and continue with work that started before the merger.

Brimble added: “We are delighted that such a professional and dedicated group of trainers and support staff have joined Ideal, they will compliment our existing team perfectly. The Deverill training team will add additional useful skills in the areas of Care Records, RiO and Choose and Book.”
