University Hospital of Bonn picks Agfa PACS

Agfa HealthCare has been selected by the University Hospital of Bonn to supply its IMPAX picture archiving and communication system for an enterprise-wide implementation.

IMPAX was chosen after an OJEU tender process for a PACS solution to meet the fast evolving needs of its radiology department. The project is financially backed by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaf). The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The deal envisages the delivery, implementation and integration of the IMPAX enterprise system into the Bonn’s existing IT infrastructure to support the daily workflow and image management requirements of the radiology department, as well as web-based image distribution.

The University Hospital of Bonn is a very large ‘maximum care category hospital’ with specialists from a multitude of disciplines collaborating closely to deliver state-of-the-art medical care to its patients. The hospital has 1,224 beds and its radiology department manages 170,000 exams per year.

According to Agfa, IMPAX is a web-deployable diagnostic image and information management system, designed to streamline enterprise workflow and deliver increased efficiency and productivity to hospital institutions.
