Philips to develop eICU with Geisinger

Royal Philips Electronics has signed an agreement with Geisinger Health System, an integrated US healthcare system, to launch an electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU) Programme.
The eICU Programme has been developed by Visicus, a Philips Healthcare Company, that focuses on delivering improvements in ICU services
Philips says the eICU Programme is proactive and blends medicine with technology. The care model leverages clinical expertise, patented processes, and cutting-edge technologies to improve critical care delivery.
The eICU Programme is said to be clinically proven to reduce severity-adjusted mortality rates by up to 50%. In addition the eICU programme is said to reduce severity-adjusted length-of-stay by up to 48%.
The Philips Visicus eICU Programme combines early warning alerts and remote monitoring technology to connect off-site critical care specialists with intensive care unit patients and their bedside care teams.
Geisinger plans to use the technology to reduce medical complications and improve the care provided to patients.
Philips says its eICU technology provides a combination of remote monitoring technology and clinical intelligence.
Geisinger Health System is one of the largest integrated health services organisations in the US, serving more than 2m residents throughout central and north-eastern Pennsylvania.
