Imprivata global health division

  • 24 February 2010

Imprivata, a provider of single sign-on technology, has announced the launch of its Global Healthcare Division.

The company says the move underlines its commitment to helping hospitals make patient data easily accessible through clinical workflows, while enforcing patient privacy and deploying transparent security.

Omar Hussain, chief executive of Imprivata, told E-Health Europe: “With increasing pressure on hospitals to improve patient outcomes, keep patient information private and move to EMRs [electronic medical records], there is a need to simplify and secure user access to patient health information, enforce stringent patient privacy policies and deploy transparent security across clinician workflows.

“Our new healthcare division is built upon the company’s successful track record of working with more than 500 hospitals in 12 countries, 1m healthcare users and strategic relationships with leading HIS vendors.”

The company has hired Dr Barry Chaiken, the current chair of HIMSS, as its chief medical officer to advise the company on product direction and building strategic healthcare relationships.

Imprivata has healthcare customers in the US, Switzerland, UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Italy, and Canada.

“We are starting to see increased market interest in France and Germany and plan to make investments in these markets in 2010,” Hussain said, adding that the new division would launch multiple products in coming weeks.
