Who is your champion of the year?

  • 25 March 2010

Nominations are open for Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year; a special category of the E-Health Insider Awards 2010 in association with BT that is decided by you, the reader.

If you would like to nominate somebody for this award, then please send an email to Emma Corbett naming your champion, telling us what they do, and explaining why you think they should win.

The 300 word citation should say how the nominee has made an outstanding contribution to healthcare IT at any level.

What makes them special? How have they gone above and beyond what might be expected of them? What obstacles and challenges have they overcome? What innovation or change have they achieved?

The deadline for nominations is 23 July. After that, we will approach nominees to see if they are happy for their names to go forward. Then, voting will start in August.

The winner will be unveiled at this year’s awards dinner, which will be at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London, on 6 October.

Previous winners of the awards have included Mike Bainbridge, clinical architect of NHS Connecting for Health, Sue Rushbrook, head of systems and network services at York Hospitals NHS Trust, and Andy Inniss, a control training supervisor in South Western Ambulance NHS Trust’s control room in Exeter.

Inniss said he was “gobsmacked” to be champion last year. He received considerable support from local ambulance service staff for the innovative e-learning modules that he developed, which have been adopted by half the ambulance trusts in the country.

Linda Davidson, director of E-Health Insider, said: “We all know that many individuals work tirelessly to promote healthcare IM&T in different ways. We set up the Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year award to recognise at least some of that work, and we are delighted to be running it again.

“We look forward to receiving nominations for this year’s award, and to welcoming the winner to the awards dinner in October.”

The E-Health Insider Awards 2010 in association with BT seek out and reward outstanding work within the UK healthcare IT sector. Entries are open now on the dedicated awards website.
