New EHI Award recognises major projects

  • 15 April 2010

A new category has been launched for this year’s E-Health Insider Awards in association with BT. ‘Excellence in major healthcare IT development’ will recognise the work of suppliers and healthcare teams tackling major projects in the UK.

E-Health Insider director Linda Davidson said: “We decided to introduce a new category to celebrate the work of companies and teams who take on the really big challenges in healthcare IT.

“Often the technology involved is not the most complex or cutting edge, but the work involved in managing change across large parts of an organisation in the NHS is highly demanding – and certainly worth highlighting in the awards.”

Entries for the new category must be based on a project that involves at least two of the following: multiple IT providers, multiple NHS or other public sector agencies; and significant numbers of users.

Entries should also show how the project achieved a high degree of client satisfaction, brought about benefits for users and carers, and aligns with local, regional or national healthcare IT strategy.

This year’s awards have nine categories, plus an overall winner, and will be judged by a panel headed by Department of Health chief information officer Christine Connelly. There is also a Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year category, decided by readers of E-Health Insider.

Entries and nominations for the Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year are open now. Entries received before 30 April will be entered into a draw for the chance to win tickets to E-Health Insider Live 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham on 8-9 November.

The awards themselves will be presented at the newly refurbished Grand Connaught Rooms in the heart of central London on Wednesday, 6 October. Case studies on the winners of the 2009 and 2008 awards are being published on the EHI website and featured on our new, interactive map.

The E-Health Insider Awards 2010 in association with BT seek out and reward outstanding work within the UK healthcare IT sector. Entries are open now on the dedicated awards website.
