Maltese company wins NHS data contract

Maltese IT company, 6pm, has announced that it has won a contract to provide its CareSolutions data warehouse to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust in Oxford, England.
The trust, which provides specialist orthopaedic and rheumatologic services, will use CareSolutions to provide all of its reporting and management information requirements.
Jane Orr, assistant director of information at the trust, said: “The CareSolutons product will provide us with an industry standard platform based on the Microsoft toolset and allow us to become more self sufficient.
"The product has been selected after an extensive due diligence exercise reviewing both the product and the reputation of 6PM in the UK health market."
The CareSolutions system will use data from a variety of clinical systems, including Cerner Millennium, which it the trust has implemented under the National Programme for IT in the NHS.
Steve Wightan, executive director of 6pm, said: “The Nuffield Trust has a worldwide reputation as a centre if excellence in their field of expertise. We are extremely excited about the prospect of working with such a prestigious organisation.”
Last month the company, which is best known for providing information management, business intelligence and document management, won another UK contract.
It will develop a solution for HR at The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, that will fully integrate with the Electronic Staff Record.
