NHS Hants picks Apira for RiO migration

  • 31 March 2011

Healthcare IT deployment and management specialist Apira is set to support the migration of children’s data from NHS trusts across Hampshire as part of their implementation of the RiO v5.4 patient record system.

Apira have partnered with E.Novation UK, whose consortia has been awarded the contract under the National Programme for IT’s ASCC framework by Hampshire PCT – now NHS Hampshire and Hampshire Community Health Care.

Work on the project has already begun and it is due to be completed by May 2011.

Apira will handle data covering over 500,000 children, which will be extracted from five legacy child health information systems and migrated to Hampshire’s RiO EPR system, currently under implementation by BT and local Trusts.

Mark Jones, managing director of Apira, said: “We’re thrilled to be working closely with NHS Hampshire, Hampshire Community Healthcare and their partners and E.Novation on this large-scale migration. We have a vast amount of experience in this area, and the majority of our team have trust-side working backgrounds.”

Jenny Nash, CIO, NHS Hampshire, said: “I have had excellent feedback on the work the Apira team have undertaken so far which gives us all great confidence that we made the right decision and that we will meet the planned timetable.”

Apira specialises in the deployment and management of IT projects across acute, mental health and primary care, and has delivered a large number of RiO and Cerner deployments in these settings.

E.Novation UK, is part of the Dutch E.Novation Group, a supplier of electronic communications, data integration software and services, application development services and business consultancy to the healthcare sector.
