Royal Surrey IT manager dismissed

  • 9 January 2012

Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s associate director for informatics has been dismissed following unspecified allegations by an “external source”.

In November, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to eHealth Insider that Peter Lewis had been excluded “under the trust’s disciplinary policy, following allegations from an external source” to “provide space while an investigation is completed.”

At the time, the trust stressed: “It does not imply guilt and we hope to conclude this investigation as soon as possible.”

The spokesperson said today that Lewis has been dismissed. “The investigation and disciplinary hearing have been completed and the member of staff has been dismissed from the trust with immediate effect.”

No further explanation was given for the dismissal, and the trust declined to say whether additional steps would be taken.
