Nominate your champion for 2014

Nominations are open for the Healthcare IT Champion of the Year, the special category of EHI’s annual awards that is decided by the readers of EHI themselves.

The category, which this year is sponsored by System C, recognises individuals who have worked tirelessly to promote healthcare IT; whether that’s through a job at a national organisation, trust or supplier, or through a commitment to education or professional development.

EHI director Linda Davidson said: “We always look forward to seeing nominations for Healthcare IT Champion of the Year, because so many of the people who nominate champions are so passionate about their commitment and achievement.

“It’s great to be able to give some unsung heroes some well deserved recognition. But competition is getting tougher every year, so we wish everybody whose name is put forward every success.”

If you would like to nominate somebody for this award, then send an email to Lauren Hoodless naming your champion and saying why they should win.

Support your email with a 300 word statement, clearly outlining the contribution that your nominee has made, and giving specific examples of the change they have inspired.

Nominations for the award will close on 23 May. After that, EHI will approach nominees to see if they are happy for their names to go forward to the popular vote, which will take place in the summer.

This year, the EHI Awards have two further personal categories; the ‘CCIO Leaders Network award for clinical informatics leadership’, and the brand new ‘Rising Star of 2014’, as well as ten further categories and an overall winner prize.

Forms for putting names forward for these awards can be found on the dedicated EHI Awards 2014 website, which also has full details of all the categories and how to enter.

The award winners will be announced at the black tie awards dinner, which will take place in central London in October.

Last year, the winner of the Healthcare IT Champion of the Year was Kemi Adenubi, the GP Systems of Choice programme director for the Health and Social Care Information Centre, and she will be one of the judges this year.

Other immediate past winners have included Neil Darvill, the director of St Helens and Knowsley Health Informatics Service, and James Norman, the IM&T director of Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The EHI Awards 2014, which will be presented at a black tie dinner in October, have more categories than ever before. There are 14 categories to enter, the details of which can be found on the dedicated awards website. Entries for most categories must be received by 9 May; although nominations for the Healthcare IT Champion of the Year can be made until 23 May.
