Our latest movers and shakers round up features a chief clinical information officer appointment in Norfolk and a new group chief executive appointment at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Outside of the NHS, Allscripts has also appointed a vice president and managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Ed Prosser-Snelling has been appointed chief clinical information officer (CCIO) and associate medical director at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. 

The obstetrician and gynaecologist made the announcement on Twitter, saying he was “delighted”.

He added: “Joining a strong digital and leadership team which will meet the transformation challenges we face.”

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) has appointed Caroline Clarke as its new group chief executive. 

Currently the trust’s deputy chief executive, Clarke,  first joined the Royal Free Hospital as a finance trainee in 1991.

She will begin her new role with immediate effect.

Clarke said: ““We have over 10,000 of the most committed, brilliant staff that I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Together we have the opportunity to continue to make a huge difference to the communities and to the lives of the patients we serve.

“I am looking forward to working with our key partners and stakeholders to do just that.”

The trust is made up of Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital.

Dominic Dodd, chairman of the RFL, added: “On behalf of the board, I am delighted that Caroline has agreed to become our new chief executive. We all look forward to working with her as she leads the Royal Free London into the next chapter in its history.

“It is a huge compliment to our staff that we were able to attract and choose between a strong field of candidates.”

Peter Axon has been appointed as the new CEO at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. 

He joins North Staffordshire from his role as Chief Finance Officer/ Deputy Chief Executive at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Peter said: “I am delighted to take up the post of Chief Executive of North Staffordshire Combined NHS Trust, and am very much looking forward to working with the team across the organisation and the wider population of North Staffordshire.”

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has welcomed Simon Morritt as its new chief executive.

With more than 25 years NHS experience, Morritt joins York from Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he has been chief executive since 2016.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and look forward to working with staff across the organisation who are clearly caring and committed to doing the best for patients across North and East Yorkshire.”

Susan Symington, chair of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, added: “Simon joins us at an important time as we work towards building sustainable solutions to the challenges we face, as well as building on our many areas of strength.

“His commitment and experience will help us to strengthen our partnerships across the healthcare community in readiness for the ambitious plans we will deliver together.

“Simon will succeed current Chief Executive Mike Proctor, who has given more than 40 years of dedicated service to the NHS.”

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Sir Hugh Taylor as its interim chair.

Sir Taylor has been asked to take on this position alongside his existing role as chair of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

It is hoped the move will enable closer working and a deeper and long-term strategic relationship between the two London trusts.

Sir Taylor said: “I am very much looking forward to working with the board and colleagues at King’s College Hospital, with which, as a local resident, I have a strong personal association.

“I will certainly be bringing to my role at King’s the same level of commitment as I hope I have shown to Guy’s and St Thomas’ over the past eight years.”

Allscripts has appointed Richard Strong as its vice president and managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). 

Strong, who was previously the supplier’s vice president for international services, has said one of his first priorities will be increasing the number of NHS trusts signed-up to deploy Allscripts’ Sunrise EPR.

He will also focus on raising awareness of the capabilities of its dbMotion population health management solution as well.

Strong said: “Allscripts is well-established in the UK and popular with our customers. I am looking forward to building on the excellent work we have already achieved within the region with the Global Digital Exemplar programme in the UK and with customers that have benefited from our clinical wrap approach.”
